Kelly Bernard Rolando

Kelly Bernard Rolando, 34, of Pleasant Hill, Illinois passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023. Funeral services for Kelly will be Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bowling Green with Professional Honors rendered by Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Kelly was born April 20, 1989 in Richland, Washington to Bernard Carl Rolando Jr. and Renee Denise (Caraway) Rolando. Kelly grew up in Butte, Montana and attended school in Butte, Montana, graduating in 2007. During school Kelly ran a paper route for Montana Standard. In 2014 he moved to Pleasant Hill to live with his mother. Kelly began working at the Department of Corrections in 2015. Kelly worked at the Vandalia Department of Corrections for three years before transferring to North East Correctional Center in Bowling Green, where he was currently employed as a CO1. Kelly enjoyed Comic-Con and anime. He loved wearing brightly colored Hawaiian shirts. Kelly collected swords and Star Wars Legos. He loved going to the movies, especially Marvel, DC, and Disney movies. DeadPool, The Flash, and Superman were his favorite characters. Kelly was very good at imitations, especially Chewbacca and Donald Duck. He liked steam punk, and enjoyed the Steam Punk Festival in Hannibal every year. Kelly was a total geek through and through. He was never afraid to just be himself, what you saw was what you got. Above all, Kelly adored his nieces and nephews. Kelly is survived by his mother and father, Renee and Daniel Wombles of Pleasant Hill; grandmothers, Teresa Mahsman of Palmyra, Missouri and Karel Caraway of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; grandfather, Bernard C. Rolando Sr. of Butte, Montana; siblings: Tiffany (Derrick) McDonald of Alpena, Michigan, Ashley Perry of Edwards Air Force Base, California, Samantha (Joshua) Gass of St. Elizabeth, Missouri, Robert Perry (Jacqueline Marez) of Butte, Montana, and Russell (Haley) Wombles of Pleasant Hill, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family. Kelly was preceded in death by his grandma, Dorothy Rolando; sister, Amanda Pankratz; and grandfather, Gladstone Caraway. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or the Autism Foundation.
