Rick Kelly

Ricky Hill Kelly, age 70, of Bowling Green, MO, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green with Pastor Homer Pool officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Rick was born August 12, 1951, to Howard Kelly and Kathy Chapman, in Hannibal, MO. On April 14, 1999, he married Terri Johnson in Las Vegas, NV. Rick graduated from Bowling Green High School with the class of 1969. He then attended Linn Technical College where he studied auto mechanics and graduated in 1971. In 1972, he and friend Leo Kerns, opened K&K Texaco Station where he worked until he joined Shaon Motors in 1974 where Rick services and repaired hundreds of Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and countless other makes and models for over 38 years. In 1979 Rick was promoted to shop foreman and retired in 2012. Rick was an avid NASCAR fan, specifically a Richard Petty fan. He also enjoyed camping, boating, playing cards, working on his old cars and trucks, tinkering in his garage, and spending time with his grandchildren. For those who knew Rick, he could be found on Sundays watching a race, a friendly face in the store, a pool bartender on weekends or someone to help get your car running. Rick is survived by his beloved wife Terri Kelly; children Stephen Kelly of Bowling Green, Amy Welker (Andrew) of Canton, MO; stepfather and mother-in-law Fred (Carol) Gamm of Bowling Green; father and step mother-in-law Billy Wayne (Marsha) Johnson; brother-in-law Douglas (Tracy) Gamm of Sterling, IL; brother Jay (Kim) Kelly of California; sister Cindy (Blaine) Swanson of California; grandchildren Claire Adkins of Austin, TX, Jordyn Rutherford (Logan) of Troy, MO, Brenden Kelly of Bowling Green, and Gabby Adkins of Moscow Mills, MO; great grandchildren, Carter and Collins Croft of Moscow Mills, daughters of Gabby Adkins; many nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Howard Kelly and Homer, and Kathy Chapman; one stepbrother Barry Chapman; one stepsister Jeanine Martinez. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Welker, Logan Rue, Douglas Gamm, Leo Kerns, Steve Patton, and Matt Croft. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Hospice or Donors’ Choice.
