Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. Charlie Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Curryville cemetery. Visiation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday. Mrs. Shepherd was born June 11, 1927 in Eolia, the daughter of Oscar and Daisy Conway Ashby. On February 15, 1950 she married Clyde E. Shepherd in Bowling Green. He preceded her in death. Survivors include four sons Eric Shepherd (Dee) of Jefferson City, David Shepherd (Ella) of Sorrento, LA, Mark Shepherd of Kansas City, and Tony Shepherd (Tracia Hurst) of Kansas City; four daughters Carolyn Shepherd of Grandview, Caffie “Missy” Hill (James) of Milwaukee, WI, Beryle Lunn of Grandview, and Shelia Mills (Orlando) of Raytown; nineteen grandchildren Eric H, Keena, Stephen, Dana, Angela, David Jr., Phillip, TaLisa, Mario, Derrick, Jamie, Preston Jr., Tonae’, VeJay, Keiana, Sheldun, NaKea, Kaymon and Zamar; one sister Wendell Shelton; host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; son Preston Shepherd; brothers Ed Ashby, Obbie Ashby and Thomas Ashby; sister Cathrine Shepherd. Theresa graduated from high school in Louisiana and attended Lincoln University. She was a member of the VFW and Eolia Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. Shepherd worked at Silex Community Care and later retired from Moore-Pike Nursing Home. Her passion was word search puzzles and reading novels. She enjoyed cooking, plants, flowers, going out to eat with her sister and friends and shopping at Walmart. Most of all she enjoyed spending time and visiting with her kids and grandkids. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her reach extended beyond her family out into the community. Theresa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior as a young child and was a life time member of the First Baptist Church of Eolia, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Shepherd, Phillip Hill, David Shepherd Jr., P.J. Shepherd, VeJay Norwood, Kaymon Lunn, and Mario Shepherd. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Eric H. Shepherd, Derrick Shepherd, Sheldun Norwood, James Steele, Tom Steele, Bobby Florence, Alex Ashley and Billy Shelton. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
