Betty Ann Hulen

Betty Ann Hulen, age 89 of Bowling Green, passed away Wednesday March 25, 2015 at the Monroe Manor in Paris. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Bowling Green with Rev. Dawn Marie Turner officiating. Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery in Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green. She was born January 12, 1926 in West Plains, the daughter of Oscar E. and Thelma Farrell Nordyke. She married Dr. Ralph A. Hulen December 25, 1945. He preceded her in death February 4, 2008. Survivors include son Gary R. Hulen and wife Janie of Paris; one daughter Margaret Ann Patton of Bowling Green; 7 grandchildren Michael D. Hulen and wife Deena of Hallsville, James W. Patton and wife Sheila of Louisiana, Lisa M. Banegas of Miami, FL., Ann E. Beatty and husband Jerry of Bowling Green, Gary R. Hulen Jr. and wife Amber of Crown Point, IN, Timothy Eric Hulen and wife Lindsey of Normal, IL, Joshua S. Hulen and wife Megan of Paris; Great grandchildren Kelsey, Kala, Taylor, Gage, Zachary, Elizabeth, Ashley, Iris, Nathan, Jacqueline, Emily, Skye, Jacob, and Elijah; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Dr. Lester Nordyke and sister Mavis Mills. Betty spent her earlier years in Kansas, later moving to Columbia after high school where she met her husband Ralph and later settling in Bowling Green. She worked as a secretary with her husband at the veterinary clinic for many years, later working at the Bowling Green Pharmacy, Sears store and Abels. She was a member of the bridge club, and enjoyed traveling the country with friends square dancing. Betty was a member of the Bowling Green First Christian Church and was instrumental in starting the first Kindergarten class in Bowling Green. She loved hosting family gatherings and was a loved and very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael D. Hulen, James W. Patton, Gary R. Hulen Jr., Timothy Eric Hulen, Joshua S. Hulen and Gage Hulen. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Lisa M. Banegas, Ann E. Beatty, Deena Hulen, Sheila Patton, Amber Hulen, Lindsey Hulen, Megan Hulen, Jerry Beatty, Alberta Griggs and Dr. Kirk Perry. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Bowling Green.
