Betty "Sue" Norton

Betty Sue Norton, 83, of Silex passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at Mercy-Lincoln Hospital in Troy, Missouri. A Mass of Christian Burial for Sue will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Silex. Sue was born September 23, 1940 in Silex, Missouri to Howard and Roberta (Luck) Colbert. She was united in marriage to Ralph Joseph Norton on November 23, 1957. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2015. Sue grew up in the Silex area and lived there her entire life. She attended Duff School, a one-room school house, which is where she met Ralph. After leaving school, Sue stayed on the family farm and worked with the family until she and Ralph married and started their own home. Sue enjoyed going to the Lake of the Ozarks every summer. She enjoyed boating and teaching the kids how to ski. She also enjoyed spending time at the river. In her youth, Sue liked to go rabbit hunting. She also liked to spend her free time going to Cardinal’s baseball games, dancing, and vegetable gardening. She loved country music, and CMT was always on the TV. Alan Jackson was her favorite country singer. Sue also drove a school bus for Silex School for over ten years. Surviving are children, Mike Norton (Janet) of Silex, Leanne Heintz (Kevin) of North Carolina, and Linell Shramek (Robert) of Troy; grandchildren: Ryan Norton (Kayla), Jessica Norton, Walker Peatross, Gabrielle Peatross, Anna Heintz, Jaimie Heintz, and A.J. Heintz; great-grandchild, Cash Norton; and sister, Geanie West (Donald) of Warrenton; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Steve Norton; sisters, Vaundalee Caudill and Dorothy Bantell; and a brother, Sonny Colbert. Pallbearers will be Ryan Norton, Jessica Norton, Sam Norton, Walker Peatross, Jerry Miller, and Larry Zalabak. Honorary pallbearer will be A.J. Heintz. Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
