Keith Barnhart and Rev. John Birkhead officiating. Burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to the time of service, 2:00 at the Church.Gene was born August 8, 1941 to Charles P. and Beatrice Irene Smith Robinson in Edgewood. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Florence Laird on September 4, 1960. She survives. To this union were born two children, Steven Eugene Robinson and Paula Sue (Robinson) Cain of rural Bowling Green. Other survivors include son-in-law Mike Cain; daughter-in-law Vicki Robinson; two grandsons Taylor Johnson, Jake Cain; six granddaughters Bonnie Cain, Toni (Robinson) Walker and husband Shawn, Hilary (Robinson) Gordy and husband Garrett, Heather Larenson, Amber Larenson and Megan Larenson; two great granddaughters Dalaney Johnson, Addyson Johnson; one brother David Robinson and wife Janice; brother-in-law Richard Laird; sister-in-law Pat Burbridge and husband Doug; nieces and nephews Robyn Robinson Brown and husband Dan, Kelly Burbridge, Jeff and Rick Burbridge; great nieces Abby and Alexis Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father. Gene graduated from Clopton High School in 1959 and had been employed at Hercules in Louisiana for many years before becoming a journeyman pipefitter. His hobbies included fishing, spending time traveling especially in their travel trailer to the State of Louisiana. He also enjoyed duck hunting and guiding hunters at Legends Farms Hunt Club near Annada. Gene told his wife he was living his dream, hunting every day but Sunday. He and friends made trips to Canada for the last 10 years accompanied by his beloved hunting dog, Cindy who died October 12 this year. He was also an avid deer and wild turkey hunter and it was his request to be buried in his camos. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He accepted Christ as a young boy and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 40 years. He was also a Sunday School Teacher and song leader. Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Lockard, Larry Mills, Larry Lagemann, Wayne Finnerty, Dan Brown and Bob Hickerson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bob Conrad, Richard G. Laird, Don Mitchell, Doug Burbridge, Jack Bohannan, Bud Shinn, Ed Twehaus, Rick Merritt and Danny Street.Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Edgewood Cemetery.
