Dorothy Luebbers

Dorothy Blanche Luebbers 89, of Lakewood ,CO formerly of Bowling Green , MO passed away unexpectedly on April 29th at the Lakeview Senior Living Community in Lakewood, CO . Dorothy was born April 22, 1926 , on the Branstetter family farm, south of Curryville. She was the daughter of Frank Turner and Bertha Henderson Branstetter . She graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1944 and was recognized at her high school commencement for having 12 years of perfect attendance. On November 22, 1947 she was married to Bennie L. Luebbers in Bowling Green. They resided in Bowling Green most of their married life. They owned and operated Bennies Auto Repair from 1969 until Bennie’s retirement in 1988. Dorothy served as a bookkeeper to the business. Bennie preceded her in death, and passed away on February 18, 1992. Dorothy was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green and served as both a Deacon and Elder of the church. Dorothy was also a 50 year lifetime member of the Ladies Auxillary VFW Post #5533 and was an active participant in both Post and Auxillary functions. Surviving family members include son, Phillip W. Luebbers and wife Elizabeth, two grandchildren Justin Luebbers and Sarah Luebbers O'Neil and husband John O'Neil , one great grand daughter Riley Luebbers who all reside in Denver, CO. Another son, Paul B. Luebbers and wife Robin ,three grandsons P.J (Paul Jr.) , Baxter & Bennie of Evergreen, CO. She is also survived by brother Sam Branstetter of Middletown, MO and sister Restora Privett of Louisiana, MO in addition to many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. All of the nieces and nephews affectionately referred to her as Aunt Dot. She was preceded in death by her sisters; Lola Mae Lawson, Opal Eskew,June Johns,Velma Wolfender, Frances Reading , Beulah Woods brother Frank Branstetter and two half brothers Paul Branstetter and Basil Branstetter. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, listening to her brother play country music, locally, playing bingo, various card games and watching or listening to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 7:00PM on Friday May 8, 2015 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral home in Bowling Green. Funeral services were held Saturday ,May 9, 2015 at 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green, with Chris Gamm officiating. Burial Services were held at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Bowling Green following the funeral. Serving as Pallbearers were Alan Luebbers, Justin P. Luebbers, Sam Branstetter Jr., Jay F. Reading, John B. Eskew, Charles Johns. Honorary Pallbearers were Fred Bridwell, Dr.David R. Hunter, Melvin Woods & Edward Lawson. The family requests memorials be given to First Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green.
