Imogene Griggsby

Imogene Griggsby, 78, of Bowling Green, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Funeral services for Imogene will be Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bowling Green with Pastor Charlene Wheeler-Williams D.D officiating. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Imogene was born July 16, 1945 in Louisiana, Missouri to Carver Ishemel and Marcella Dean (Washington) Hutt. She was united in marriage to Oliver Griggsby, and together they had one daughter. Oliver preceded her in death. Imogene grew up in Louisiana and attended Louisiana Schools. She later graduated from Van-Far High School in 1966. Following graduation, Imogene went to work at Louisiana plastics while living in Vandalia. She was employed with LA Plastics for 15 years. After her husband passed away, Imogene moved back to Bowling Green in the late 1980s. She spent the next 5 years working at Harbison-Walker in Vandalia, and later worked at NECC and Ruth Jensen Village, both in Bowling Green. She lived in Bowling Green until her health declined, at which point she moved to Mississippi so her daughter could assist her. Imogene enjoyed fishing, attending motorcycle shows, and playing baseball. Her favorite way to pass the time was spending time with her family. Imogene is survived by daughter, Christina Frazier of Brandon, Mississippi; step-sons, Dennis Griggsby of Vandalia, Tommy Griggsby (Natalie) of Bowling Green, Leland Griggsby of Farber, and Adrion Griggsby of St. Peters; grandchildren, Edward Logan and Brentney Logan, both of Brandon, Mississippi; a host of step-grandchildren; brother, Dennis Hutt of Waterloo, Iowa; and sisters, Carol Hutt of Bowling Green, Lillian Bradford of Columbia, Lisa Bell of Columbia, and Elzena White of Kansas City, Missouri; along with many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, Clarence Hutt and Brenda Walz. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
