Iva Jane Mullen

Iva Jane Mullen, 93, of Silex, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green. Funeral services for Iva will be Friday, October 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green with Chris Gamm officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20th at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green. Iva was born March 18, 1929 in Vera, Missouri to Christopher Columbus and Lena (Sutton) Carr. She was united in marriage to Joe Mullen on May 22, 1948. Joe preceded Iva in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; siblings: Hurley Carr, Ella Smith, John Ed Carr and Mary Carr; two grandchildren, Victoria and Tamara; sisters-in-law, Mae Carr and Wilma Carr; and brother-in-law, Bill Smith. Surviving are sons, John (Norma Jean) Mullen and Bubby Mullen; daughter, Teresa (Jeff) Graddy; grandchildren: Beth Mullen, Clint Mullen, Brandy Mullen, Jodi Mills, Amy Bueche, Kyle (Rochell) Graddy and Lance (Brittany) Graddy; great-grandchildren: Addison, Alivia, Brooke, Spencer, Allison, Landen, Maxwell, Logan, Sydney, Marcus, Hayley, Drew, Kyliegh, Hunter, Carson, Felicity (Jake), Dwight, Khloe, Addyson and Nathan; great-great-grandchildren: Carter, Damon and Rachael; and nieces, Phyllis Sisson and Joyce Purdue and their families. Iva lived in the Pike County area her whole life. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green, and served as a Deacon and as an Elder in the church. Iva held many different jobs over the years, including the Garment Factory, Ben Franklin, waitressing, and cleaning at Moore-Pike Nursing Home. She spent a lot of time volunteering for the Bowling Green VFW. Iva was a master seamstress and quilter. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t make, and she actually made her daughter’s wedding dress and the dresses for the wedding party. All her kids and grandkids received quilts made by Iva. She also quilted with the church quilting group. When not sewing or quilting, Iva enjoyed working word searches. She also made homemade candy, and like to cook and bake for her family. Pallbearers will be Kyle Graddy, Lance Graddy, Clinten Mullen, Jodi Mills, Brandy Mullen, and Beth Mullen. Honorary pallbearers will be Amy Bueche, and all of Iva’s great-crandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green.
