JoAnn Sharp

JoAnn Sharp, age 82, of Bowling Green, MO, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home & Crematory in Bowling Geen, with Lay Pastor Rebecca Glenn officiating. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. JoAnn was born July 9, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Cecil Glennon and Lester Virginia (Harper) Scott. She grew up in St. Louis and moved to California with her parents, attending school in San Fernando Valley. Eventually, she returned to Missouri. She married Gene Palmer, later married to Jesse (Bud) Potter, Jr, in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1994. In 1998, she married Kenny Sharp. JoAnn had a love for life, especially the simple things, like sitting on her porch with a cup of coffee and watching the farm animals. She enjoyed BBQs and cookouts, country music, playing cards, fishing, camping, and roasting smores on a bonfire. Spending time with grandchildren and attending their activities and horse shows. Watching Young Sheldon with her girls, playing games on her Ipad and telling friends and family good morning on Facebook. In her early years, she loved a good yard sale and even when the car was broke down, she didn’t let that stop her and was known to load the kids in the back of a stock truck with Daffy and hit the sales. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing the nickel slots. She was known for helping in the garden and canning the vegetables she grew. JoAnn cared for handicapped children for many years and later cared for the elderly until she retired. Left to carry on her legacy are her children, Ginny Hatfield of Bowling Green, Glenn Palmer (Joan) of Gaylord, MI, Deanna Dean of Rolla, Joyce Porter (Randy) of Bowling Green, and Jay Potter (Chris) of Vandalia; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; great niece Melody Stogsdill (Scott); many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and daughter Jessica Potter. Pallbearers will be Andrew Pruett, Ahren Pruett, Justin Dean, Kaden Young, Zane Porter, and Austin Potter. Honorary pallbearers will be JoAnn’s grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Relay For Life - Team Granny.
