Judy Kay Betz

Judy Kay Betz, of Bowling Green, entered eternal rest on July 28, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family at the age of 74. She was born on November 16, 1949, in Louisiana, Missouri, to the late Melvin J. Lovell and Willeyne (Robertson) Lovell. She was united in marriage to Brent Alan Betz on July 21, 1967, in Bowling Green. Brent and Judy were blessed with three children, Jeffrey Brent, Jennifer Denise, and Jason Anthony. Judy is survived by her children, Jennifer (Mark) Raufer, and Jason (Hannah) Betz; her grandchildren, Brent (Jenny) Potter, Brittney (Ben) Reuther, Hilary (Garett) Gordy, Dustin (Garrett) Sellars, Tabitha (Anthony) Burleson, Layne Betz, Morgan Raufer, and Kayla (Steven) Moore; her great-grandchildren, Easton and Waylon Reuther, Beau and Reese Potter, Isaiah and Oakleigh Sellars, Lane and Levi Gordy, Wrenleigh Burleson, and Briggs Raufer; sister, Janet Lovell; and her daughter-in-law, Pam Betz. She is also survived by several special friends, Judy Clay, Shirley Freeman, Eileen Gibson, and Ann Patton. Judy faced the profound loss of her son, Jeffrey Brent Betz, on August 16, 2011. The pain of his passing was followed by another sorrowful loss on September 21, 2020, when her husband of 53 years, Brent Alan Betz, also departed from this world. Judy worked at Stark Bro’s Nursery in the advertising department for several years. In 1992, Judy and Brent purchased Grandma’s Attic Flea Market in Bowling Green, and operated the business until they sold it in 1994. Following the success of Grandma’s Attic, Judy and Brent acquired Bouquet Florist and Gift Shoppe in 2004. Judy brought a touch of elegance and charm to the community through her ownership of the florist and gift shop until 2009. Judy's dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to providing exceptional service illuminated through her ventures, leaving a lasting impact and earning her a place in the hearts of many in the community. Judy was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Bowling Green for many years, finding comfort and a sense of belonging within the loving community of her faith. Judy enjoyed shopping at flea markets, finding hidden treasures that sparked delight in her eyes. Her love for creating a warm and inviting home led her on shopping adventures to beloved stores like Hobby Lobby, At Home, and her local favorite, Prairie’s Edge, where she would find decor to decorate her home with love and care. She also held a special fondness for lunch dates with friends and family to local restaurants in the area. These moments of togetherness brought her happiness and created lasting memories that will forever be cherished. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and love for life will be fondly remembered and deeply cherished by her loved ones and the community she was a part of. A family held memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 9 a.m. until the memorial service at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Bowling Green officiated by Rebecca Glenn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 15 North High Street, Bowling Green, MO 63334 or Community Loving Care Hospice, 1310 South Business, US-61 Suite B, Bowling Green, MO 63334. Cremation rites are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green.
