Lilburn Eugene Gregory

Lilburn Eugene Gregory, age 59, of rural Bowling Green, passed away February 5, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. John Pinkston and Greg Wyble officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Eolia. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Lilburn was born January 11, 1956 in Louisiana, the son of Thomas Lilburn and Helen Eunice Steinhage Gregory. On July 30, 1977 in Eolia he married Kathryn Marie Adams. She survives. Other survivors include his father, Tom Gregory (Millie) of Bowling Green; son Bryce Alan Gregory (Kristi) of Troy; three daughters Brooke Adams Colbert (Lucas) of Troy, Bridgette Anne Reuther (Patrick) of Eolia, and Breanne Adele Gregory (Alex Clawson) of Columbia; five grandchildren Bennett and Ava Colbert, Adelyn and Carter Gregory, and Andrew Reuther; brothers Mike Gregory (Melanie) of Eolia, Walter Gregory (Amanda) of Bowling Green, Bob Gregory (Carolyn) of Bowling Green, Gary Gregory (Monica) of Bowling Green, and Calvin Hudson (Sandy) of New Hartford. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen, grandparents, Grayson and Mary Gregory, and Walter and Ruth Steinhage. Lilburn was raised, lived and farmed all of his life on the Gregory Farms in Hobart – Eolia. Growing up he loved playing basketball, helping out on the farm, hanging out with friends and spending time with his high school sweetheart, Kathy. He was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church, Cattlemen Association, and Farm Bureau. He was a recipient of the Pike County Farm Family of the year, active with his children in 4-H and Khoury League, and was a strong supporter of the Clopton Athletic Boosters. He enjoyed golfing with his boys, and teaching his children and grandchildren about his farm, cattle and equipment. He took great pride in his children’s accomplishments. Lilburn adored his grandkids and was affectionately known by them as “PaPa”. His friends will remember him always as “Bear”. Pallbearers will be Mark Magruder, Mike McCrory, Jason Smith, Greg Wyble, Mel Motley and Donald Bibb. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike, Walter, Bob, Gary, and Tommy Gregory, and Calvin Hudson. Memorials may be made to Clopton Alumni Association and the Oak Grove Methodist Church.
