Martha Jane Adams

Martha Jane Adams, age 86, of Bowling Green, passed away at her home Saturday, October 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green with Pastor Nathan Adams officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Martha was born March 21, 1937, in Grafton, Ohio, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Simmons Archer. At the age of 16, Martha snuck out the back window of her family’s house and ran off to Indiana to marry James Marshall Adams, an 18-year-old boy from West Virginia. Together, they celebrated 61 years of marriage and raised 6 children before James passed away October 6, 2015. Survivors include sons Richard James Adams (Karla), William Marshall Adams (Marilyn), Marshall James Adams (Shellie), and James Michael Adams (Kimberly); daughter Jeannette Elizabeth Connell (George); son-in-law Charles Duff; 80 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother Kenneth Archer (Charlotte); many nieces, nephews and extended family. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Judith Ann Duff who passed away June 4, 2017; grandson Jacob Daniel Connell; siblings Gerald, Harold, and Viola. Martha spent her entire life supplying endless love to her family. She spent her years being a stay-at-home wife and mother, along with helping to raise her grandchildren. When her children began attending school, Martha cleaned businesses and homes for many years. In her spare time, Martha enjoyed antiquing, especially collecting glass and furniture. She was also known to cook large family meals and was known for her baking. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Adams, Matthew Adams, Caleb Connell, Elijah Connell, Levi Adams, Luke Adams, Jarod Adams, Zachariah Connell, Kaleb Schllesenger, Seth Connell, Daniel Adams, Michael Adams, Isaiah Bridges, and Aaron Adams. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Akers and Damon Akers. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Donors’ Choice.
