Matthew Lee Dempsey

Matthew Lee Dempsey, 31, of Bowling Green, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory with Rev. Cole Branstetter officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Matthew was born January 13, 1992 in Hannibal, Missouri to Randall and Melissa Branstetter Dempsey. He was united in marriage to Kayla Nation on June 2, 2018. All survive. Matthew is also survived by daughters, Makinley Dempsey and Evelyn Dempsey; siblings Daylan Dempsey (Rebecca) of Louisiana and Joshua Branstetter of Bowling Green; paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Dempsey; mother- and father-in-law, Tom and Annell Willemarck; nieces and nephews, Ella and Beau Dempsey and Nora Branstetter; and many aunts, uncles and extended family. Matthew was preceded in death by his Papaw Bobby Dempsey; and grandparents, Carolyn and Jack Branstetter. Matthew was born and raised in Bowling Green, and has lived here his entire life. He was a 2010 graduate of Bowling Green High School, where he was always known as the class clown. Upon graduation, Matthew went to work for his father. He had also spent many years employed at True; along with All-Parts and Trailerman Trailers. He also taught karate at the Dojo and at the YMCA for many years. He recently began streaming video games in his spare time, with FortNite being his favorite under the user name SayAPrayer3. Matthew loved spending time with his children, and he especially enjoyed his daddy/daughter dates. He also enjoyed watching wrestling with his kids. In his free time, Matthew liked playing video games with his girls, shopping online, and watching Dance Moms with Makinley and Evelyn. He was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. Matthew also enjoyed his day trips to the City, eating out, and karate; where he was a brown belt, and was working toward his black belt. Pallbearers will be Roy Lang, Joey Wagner, Cody Wagner, John Channell, Landan Truelove, and Chad Chilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Kirkpatrick, Daylan Dempsey, Joshua Branstetter, Travis Nation and Jared Feather. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery or to his children.
