Melinda Sue Brown

Melinda Sue Brown, 54, of New London, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, Missouri surrounded by her family. Memorial services for Melinda will be Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bowling Green with Bro. Bill Hobbs officiating. A memorial visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Melinda was born August 19, 1971, in Jefferson City, Missouri to Leo Garnett Kerns and Ruth Ann (Wakeland) Phillips. She was united in marriage to Allan Brown on September 21, 1996, in Louisiana, Missouri. He survives. Also surviving are her father, Leo Kerns; step-mother, Marsha Kerns; sons, Daylan Brown (Cheyenne Smith) of New London and Cody Brown (Gracie Brown) of Frankford; daughter, Alaina Brown (Peyton Mason) of New London; grandchildren: Emery Brown, Paisley Brown, Liam Brown, Paisley Butler, Lane Butler, Remi Brown, Berkley Brown, and Copelynn Brown; brother, Shawn Kerns (Tori Hays) of Troy, sister, Kim Dawson (Keith) of Bowling Green; step-brothers, Gary Hamilton Jr. (Brett) of Frankford and Brian Wright (Rachel Hess) of Vandalia; step-sister, Stephenie Stone of Frankford; and special nieces, Paige Dawson and Olivia Dawson; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, and her mom. Melinda spent her younger years in the Bowling Green and Cyrene area. In 1990 her family moved to Louisiana, later relocating to New London. She spent time employed at the title company in Louisiana, as well as dispatching at the Louisiana Police Department. Later, she became a homemaker and helped operate the family’s logging company while she raised their children. Melinda loved horses. She enjoyed trail rides with friends and chuck wagon races. Melinda loved spending time with her grandchildren and also shopping; especially for T-shirts anywhere they visited. She loved the color purple. Melinda had a huge heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes.
