Mildred "Millie" Elaine Dwyer

Mildred (Millie) Elaine Dwyer, 73, of Bowling Green, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at her home. Cremation rites are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bowling Green. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Millie was born January 4, 1952, in Canton, Illinois, to Clarence and Frances (Humphrey) Yocum. She was united in marriage to Robert Dwyer Jr. on May 18, 1971, in Hannibal, Missouri. He survives. Also surviving are children, Rebecca “Becki” Lynn Sims (Ronald) of Peyton, Colorado, and Robert “Rob” Dwyer III of Bowling Green; grandchildren: Jacob Sims (Katie Rohwer) of Pueblo West, Colorado, Dayton Dwyer of Bowling Green, MO, Clay Sims of Peyton, CO, Jessica “Jessi” Sims of Salina, KS, Emma McMillen (Kayden) of Curryville, MO, Madison Dwyer of Bowling Green, MO, Noah Dwyer of Bowling Green, Mo, and Tori Green of LaPlata, MO, and one great-grandson, Asher Findling of LaPlata, MO; brothers Frank Yocum (Carol) of Ipava, Illinois, Ed Yocum of Lakeview Florida, Jim Yocum (Char) of Pekin, Illinois, Bill Yocum (Charlene) of Lewistown, Illinois, Tom Yocum (Bev) of Lewistown, Illinois, and John Yocum (Dondra) of Lewistown, Illinois; Sam Yocum of Springfield, Illinois; and sisters Sally Yocum of Lewistown, Illinois, Peg Towery of Canton, Illinois, Mary Yocum (Bill Garlinghouse) of Brutus, Michigan, Charlene Hutton (Dannie) of Lewistown, Illinois, and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and extended family. Millie was preceded in death by her parents; brother Donald Yocum; sisters, Frankie Yocum, Geraldine Lybarger (Don), and Clarice Pelton (Gene), brother-in-law Ray Towery, and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Yocum, and Lucretia Yocum. Millie grew up as part of a large family and learned quickly to be a hard worker on the family’s farm. Millie graduated from Lewistown High School in 1970. After graduation, Millie worked at a local nursing home and at a local restaurant as the head cook. After marrying Bob, they lived in Hannibal and Palmyra until moving to Bowling Green in 2013. Millie had worked in several restaurants in the Hannibal area, and as a nurse’s aide in Quincy, Illinois. She later worked at Watlow, and then General Mills, from where she retired. Millie enjoyed watching murder mysteries on BBC and old westerns. She loved camping, flower gardening, crocheting, sewing, and making quilts for her family. Most of all, Millie loved every moment spent with her family and cherished her long-lasting marriage. Millie’s family would like to thank Community Loving Care Hospice, and especially Jen and Michelle for being so caring and ensuring she was comfortable during her time in hospice care.
