Visitation Friday, June 10, 2011 5pm-7pm Mudd-Veach Funeral Home Funeral Saturday, June 11, 2011 Southside Baptist Church (Vandalia, MO)Nellie Fay McCurdy, age 85 of Vandalia, passed away June 8, 2011 at the Monroe City Manor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11th, at the Southside Baptist Church in Vandalia, with Rev. Shane Stone officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet cemetery, near Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.She was born August 8, 1925 in Frankford, the daughter of Leo Augustus and Stella Agnes Riechard Hickson. She married George Willard McCurdy in Bowling Green, on April 24, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2009. Survivors include two sons Raymond McCurdy and wife Lynn of Monroe City, Bobby McCurdy and wife Crystal of Vandalia; one daughter Georgie Willis and husband Kenny of Monroe City; Grandchildren David Willis of Monroe City, Amy Kleindienst and fiancée Steven Sparks of Frankford, Beth Graves and husband Matt of Bowling Green, Robin Studer and husband David of Monroe City, Alison Wagner and husband Doug of Monroe City, Katie Ingram and husband Derek of Hannibal, Samantha McCurdy and fiancée Travis Winegar of Bowling Green, Jack McCurdy of Vandalia; great grandchildren Ceira and Cole Kleindienst, Josh and Lauren Sparks, George, Cody and Hunter Wagner, Bailey Graves, Hannah and Ashley Studer, Aurora Ingram and Traci Battles. She was also survived by one brother James Hickson and wife Dorothy of Bowling Green; one sister Stella Baker of Vandalia.She was preceded in death by one daughter Jackie Sue McCurdy who died in infancy; three sisters Mary Dowell, Leoata McCurdy and Katie HicksonFollowing the discharge of her husband from the United States Army Air force, Nellie and George bought a farm on the southeast of Vandalia where they lived for over 60 years. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, sewing and crocheting. She was a homemaker, house wife and assisted her husband in the daily farm operations. Memorials may be made to the Southside Baptist Church.Serving as pallbearers will be David Willis, Jack McCurdy, Matt Graves, Travis Winegar, Steven Sparks, Doug Wagner, David Studer and Derek Ingram. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Amy Kleindienst, Beth Graves, Robin Studer, Alison Wagner, Katie Ingram and Samantha McCurdy.
