Gene was born April 17th 1936 in Curryville, the son of Byron and Lois Pritchett. He married Alice F. Jarboe in Middletown on June 24th, 1956. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Survivors include two children Steven Pritchett and wife Vicky Pritchett of Middletown. Daughter Brenda Rakestraw of Frankford. Four grandchildren, Tiffany N. Anderson-Hustedde and husband Blake Hustedde of Columbia, Christina Anderson of Frankford, Jason Pritchett and wife Rebekkah of Vandalia and Jordan Pritchett of Bowling Green. Three great grandchildren, Kalvary, and Kyle Pritchett and Ryder Calhoun. Gene has one surviving sibling, Elizabeth Henderson of Lousiana. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Gene’s positive attitude and optimism were an inspiration to all. Gene loved life and so many things about it; however, he had a special passion for woodworking where he made many cherished things for his loved ones. Gardening, fishing and spending time outdoors were all activities that he enjoyed. Gene had a long career with Holcim Cement Company (formerly known as Dundee Cement Co.) from 1967-1995 when he retired to enjoy his family and hobbies. Gene gave many years to the First Presbyterian church of Louisiana acting as an elder. Gene held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and encouraged and guided them in every way. Gene will be truly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at the Mudd-Veach funeral home in Bowling Green with Pastor John Lersch officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmont cemetery in Middletown. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with a Masonic service held at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the JB & Greeta B Arthur Cancer Center Mexico, Missouri as well as the First Presbyterian Church, Louisiana. Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Dempsey, Greg Nelson, Leon Pritchett, Randy Gregory, Jason and Jordan Pritchett, and Blake Hustedde.
