Roger Lee Smith

Roger Lee Smith, 63, of Curryville, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at SSM St. Louis University Hospital. Memorial services for Roger will be Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach funeral Home in Bowling Green with Pastor Jamie Frankie officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Roger was born July 14, 1961, in Mexico, Missouri to Ronald Lee and Donna Marie (Rentfro) Smith. He was united in marriage to Tina Diane Frieden on September 3, 1983, at New Harmony Christian Church. Tina survives. Also surviving are his parents, Ron and Donna Smith; sons, Rodney Lee Smith (Lacie Matthiesen) of Bowling Green and Ryan Michael Smith (Amy Elliott) of Curryville; grandchildren: Ava Elliott, Avalynn Hamilton, Klay Smith, and Remington Smith; sister, Dena McGeorge of Maryland Heights; brother, Robert Smith of Vandalia; mother-in-law, Linda Frieden of Curryville; father-in-law, Jerry Frieden; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Roger grew up on the family farm in Curryville and attended Curryville Elementary School. He was a 1979 graduate of Bowling Green High School, where he attended Pike-Lincoln Vocational School and was active in FFA. Following graduation, Roger went to work as a mechanic and carpenter, and also helping on the family farm. He had been employed with Ron Smith Construction. He was also employed at S & F Niemeyer family farms. He had been employed with the Pike County Highway Department since 2010. Roger was a member of the Vandalia First Christian Church. Roger enjoyed farming and driving tractors and semi-trucks. He was well known for helping others. Roger loved his grandbabies and loved spending as much time with them as he could. He also enjoyed hunting deer and rabbits. He liked spending his free time watching “Let’s Make A Deal.” Roger loved family get togethers and frying fish or grilling. He was a huge fan of homemade ice cream. Roger collected clocks and toys. He enjoyed going to sales and painting tractors. Roger had a quiet way about himself and was always trying to find the positive in everybody. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
