Crawford, Sr., age 68 of Bowling Green, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, December 3, at the Bowling Green Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Robert Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Charles Park Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green. He was born January 3, 1944 in East Prairie, the son of Dean and Hazel Irene Brock Crawford. He was married on October 3, 1963 to Carol Kush for 39 years. She preceded him in death July 8, 2004. Survivors include sons Sam Crawford Jr. of Bowling Green, Dave Crawford of St. Louis, Jeff Crawford of St. Charles; daughters Rhonda Stumbaugh and husband Kevin of Bowling Green, Jennifer Bowen and husband Matt of Bowling Green; brother Howard Crawford and wife Ellen of Springfield; sisters Mildred Fisher of Benton, IL and Shirley Clemons of Macedonia, IL; seven grandchildren Brett Crawford, Shawn Crawford, Nick Stumbaugh, Sarah Stumbaugh, Chase Bowen, Ryan Stumbaugh and Fahren Stumbaugh; three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Jerry Crawford.Samuel was born in East Prairie and moved to St. Louis where he lived most of his adult life, until moving to Bowling Green in 1994. He served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam Era was held a rank of Sergeant. While in the Marine Corp. he was a rifle marksman, earning a good conduct medal and rifle squad gold medal. He was an avid sports lover and especially St. Louis and Mizzou sports. He was an umpire in minor league baseball as well as a Khoury League coach for many years for each of his children. He was an active member of the Bowling Green of the Nazarene. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Stumbaugh, Matt Bowen, Brett Crawford, Shawn Crawford, Nick Stumbaugh and Bill Cooper. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Chase Bowen, Ryan Stumbaugh, Bruce Crawford and Everett Kush Jr.Memorials may be made to the Pike County Hospice.
