William "Bill" Charles McIlroy

William Charles McIlroy, known to friends and family as Bill, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 83. Bill was born in Pike County, Missouri, in 1941 to John M. McIlroy and Ruth G. McIlroy. A 1959 graduate of Bowling Green High School, Bill graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in 1963. Two years later, Bill received his law degree from the University of Missouri. He joined the law firm of McIlroy and Millan in Bowling Green in 1965, where he was a senior partner. Bill joined the Community State Bank of Missouri Board of Directors in 1966 and served as a director. He became president of the bank in 1993. For more than 40 years, Bill held public office in his community. From 1966 to 1976, Bill served as the city attorney of Bowling Green. He then became the city attorney for Vandalia in 1967, serving in this role until 2006. Bill was elected prosecuting attorney of Pike County in 1978 and 1980. In 1985, Bill was the founding treasurer of Northeast Missouri Legal Services. Bill was an avid reader, golfer and auto enthusiast. Bill enjoyed watching football, especially the Mizzou Tigers on Saturdays and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sundays with his wife, Nadia. He loved boating at the Lake of the Ozarks and spending time in the Florida sunshine during the winters. Bill loved Bowling Green and the people in his life immensely. Above all, Bill enjoyed walking around the square visiting, driving around town (loved to show us all the new developments), lunching with friends, and times when all of his children were together. Bill was a fantastic storyteller with a good sense of humor and a sharp wit. Bill was deeply loved and will be missed by his many friends, acquaintances, and family members. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Nadia (43 years together), of Bowling Green, MO; children: Melissa (Bruce) Crawford of Dallas, Texas; Daniel (Marti) McIlroy of Boulder, Colorado; Brent Simmons of Jefferson City, Missouri; Nicholle Simmons of Ellisville, Missouri; Natalea (Marland) Beaudean of Town and Country, Missouri; grandchildren: Bruce Crawford, Kristen Crawford, Emily Crawford, Blake Beaudean, Charlie McIlroy, Bennett Beaudean, Carter Crawford, and Beckett Beaudean; brother: John (Paula) McIlroy Jr. and sister: Margaret (Mark) Goodin. Funeral services for Bill will be Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green. Burial will take place at the Bowling Green Cemetery with a celebration of life reception at Bill and Nadia McIlroy’s home to follow. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025. Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie McIlroy, Blake Beaudean, Bennett Beaudean, Carter Crawford, Beckett Beaudean, Brent Simmons, Marland Beaudean, and Bruce Crawford. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rex Bradley, Mark Goodin, Paul Hill, Nathan Hoover, Philip Pitney, Sandy Pomerantz, and Clayton Storch.
