Deloris Mae Meyer

Deloris Mae Welch Meyer, age 92, passed away at Parkside Manor in Bowling Green MO. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Clement Catholic Church on Thursday November 2nd 10:30am in Bowling Green with Fr. Henry Ussher officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:15 at the Church. Deloris was born February 5, 1931 in Joplin, MO the daughter of Carroll R. Welch and Cleda M. Whitworth Welch. She married Raymond H. Meyer July 31, 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Vandalia. He preceded her in death. Survivors include Terry Conrow (Rosemary), Gale Knight (Darrell), Deborah Meyer-McKern (Rex), Donald Meyer (Kathy), David Meyer (Vicki); 10 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Lorraine Meyer. Deloris was also preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; three sons Michael Ray Conrow, Bernard and John Meyer and two unnamed angels; brother Albert Welch and his wife Beverly; sister and brothers-in-law Bea and Al Perette, Bonnie and Tony Klott, Alrita Meyer. Deloris grew up in Joplin, MO where she had many adventures with her brother Albert and her cousins. She loved to tell stories about them, laughing at the memories. She was very proud to be a mom. She once said she knew at the age of four she wanted to be a mother. She loved being a mom. She always welcomed the neighborhood kids and her children’s’ friends into her home, providing snacks and advice when any of them asked. She was a true friend and shared many high jinks with her pals Shirley, Doris and Joann. She was also proud of her accomplishments outside the home. She worked for and managed the Dollar General store for a number of years. When she “retired” from Dollar General she started working at Orschlens. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Jolly Homemakers. She was involved with the 4H Clubs, and helped to start PTA at the school. She loved to sing and dance but her passion was gardening. She could coax anything to grow. Her gardens were full of beautiful flowers which she loved to cut and share. Deloris was a woman of great faith. She was a faithful pray warrior constantly praying for her family and those around her. She loved Jesus and trusted Him, often she would say when anyone had a problem “give it to the Lord”. Pallbearers are: Shelley Shade, Terry Joe Conrow, Heather Orf, Sarah Meyer, Christopher Meyer, Cory Orf. Honorary Pallbearers: Larry Edmiston, Tina Graver, Courtney Knight, Joey Orf, and Bobbi Jo Massingill. Memorials may be made to St Clement Church or the St. Clement Cemetery or Community Loving Care Hospice in Bowling Green.
