Lloyd Marvin Buffington, age 93, of Bowling Green passed away September 17, 2017 at the Country View Nursing Home in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. Bob Hoehn officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Vandalia with military rites conducted by the VFW Post #5553 and the Missouri Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the funeral home. Survivors include four daughters Barbara Lake (Ronnie), Janette Porter, Marlene Fischer (Barry) and Kathleen Reading; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four sisters Nadaline McCollum, Gladys Dry, Virginia Barton and Twilla Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant son Marvin Ray; six brothers Cyrus, Clarence, David, Paul, Leo, and Warren; three sisters Sarah Robinson, Della Street and Eva Park. Lloyd was born February 28, 1924, in Monroe County the son of Warren R and Nadine Cooperider Buffington. As a small child his parents moved to Ralls County near Perry where he went to school. He and his parents later moved to a farm near Vandalia. He entered the service and served as a Military Police MP in Japan. When Lloyd returned from service he went back to the farm to help care for his parents until they were both 65. On December 1, 1957 he and Kathleen Davidson were married in Mexico. They made their home on the farm until 1962 when Lloyd took a job working for Will Adam and Norad Enterprise in 1970. He moved to a farm south of Vandalia and went to work for a lumber yard in Laddonia and a Mobile Home Plant. When it closed he managed a lumber yard for Carl Davidson and later Welch Brothers. After retiring from the lumber yard he worked part time for Service Supply COOP and MFA until 2001. In the fall of 2001 he and Kathleen moved to a home near their daughter Kathleen Reading. Lloyd enjoyed gardening and working in his wood working shop. Memorials may be made to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
