Margaret Mae McCarty, 79, of Louisiana, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at her home. Funeral services for Margaret will be Friday, July 24, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Bro. Don Amelung officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Missouri. Margaret was born on March 24, 1941 in Clarksville, Missouri to James Roy and Delores E. Nickelson Walker. She was joined in marriage on March 24, 1959 to Melvin Dale Hagen. He preceded her in death. She was married to Jim McCarty on January 29, 2003. He survives. Margaret lived in Clarksville until the late 1970s when the family moved to Pleasant Hill, Illinois. She returned to Clarksville in 1990, and later moved to Louisiana. Margaret was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Some of Margaret’s hobbies included cooking, reading the Bible, singing, and gardening. She loved to sing and also enjoyed canning produce. Some of her favorite memories would include yearly camping trips in Corpus Christi and Mission, Texas. She was fond of shopping, collecting angels, and she loved shoes! She looked forward to her weekly Bible study with her girlfriends. She loved her family beyond measure, and will be greatly missed by them and all who knew her. Margaret is survived by her loving husband; sons Shawn Hagen (Trana), and Donnie Hagen (Amy); daughter Cindy Church (Rick); step-daughters Marcia McCarty and Rebecca Franklin (Bill); 33 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Earl Walker of Louisiana, Missouri, Roy Don Walker of New London, Wisconsin, James Walker of Washington State, Roger Walker of Louisiana, Missouri, Allan Walker of Louisiana, Missouri, and Gary Walker; and sisters Lela Edwards of Clarksville, Missouri, Mable Walker of Louisiana, Missouri, Nellie Walker of Louisiana, Missouri, and Susan Duncan of Louisiana, Missouri. She was preceded in death by daughters Jeanette Martin and Debbie Sue Winchell; brothers Joe Walker, Freddy Walker, and David Walker; sister Etta Motley; and grandson Lonnie Church. Pallbearers will be Shawn Hagen, Donnie Hagen, Bennie Church, Billy Joe Church, Jimmy Church, and Samuel Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ira Franklin, Isaac Franklin, Kiel Hagen, and Joseph Hagen. Memorials may be made to Options For Women in Bowling Green or the American Cancer Society.
