Millard Freeman, age 71 of Frankford, passed away at his residence Saturday, November 2, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. John Davis and Rev. Chad Summers officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Louisiana, MO. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Millard was born July 2, 1948 in Flora, IL, the son of Richard Glenn and Vella Dale Harrison Freeman. He married Leota V. Francis June 17, 1985. She survives. Other survivors include sons Marty Freeman and special friend Robyn Haase of Moscow Mills, and Mike E. Freeman (Stacey) of Frankford; son-in-law James Wharton; grandchildren Kimberly Summers (Chad), Doug Freeman (Tanya Mannahan), Kayty Freeman (Rodney Thomas), Britany Schuster (Jake), Devan Wharton (Chasity), Brenden Wharton (Kayla), Jesteena Wharton, Hadley Freeman, and Gavin Freeman; brothers Dicky Freeman, Ed Freeman (Empress), and John Freeman (Nancy); nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cindy Wharton; and two great grandchildren Corbin Wharton and Koda Schuster. Millard grew up in Flora, IL and Pittsfield in his early childhood. He later moved to rural Pike County, IL where he attended and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1966. He served his country during the Vietman War in the United States Army from January 2, 1968 until he was honorable discharged August 6, 1969. During his time in service he specialized in aviation and was a helicopter repairman. Growing up, Millard worked for the shell station and Abels Oil Company. He spent 35 years working for Shade Tree Service Company and retired from them in 2008. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. union. Millard enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always had an open-door policy and never knew a stranger. He loved people. Millard enjoyed piddling around in his shop and giving rides to the grandchildren on his side by side. Serving as pallbearers will be Junior Hubert, George Kelly, Phillip Francis, Bill Francis, Josh Buchanan, Chris Meyer, Brenden Worton and Devan Worton. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Freeman, Gavin Freeman, Chad Summers, Hadley Freeman, Britany Schuster, Jesteena Worton, Kim Summers and Katie Freeman. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
