Betty Jane Bybee

Funeral services for Betty Jane Bybee, 87, of Bowling Green will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11 a.m., at St. Clement Church with Fr. Dan Merz officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the church. Mrs. Bybee died at 5:50 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Burial of cremation rights and funeral services are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green. She was born Nov. 2, 1936 at home near St. Clement to Wilfred and Regina Koester Sachs. She married Eddie Bybee on Nov. 30, 1957 at St. Clement Church. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Eddie Bybee, of the home; a son, Ronnie Bybee and wife, Rhonda of Bowling Green; one daughter, Nancy Case and husband, Travis of Vandalia; grandchildren, Ashley Coombs and husband, Chris of Cheney, Wash., Schuyler Case of Columbia; Ryan Bybee and wife, Abigail of Moscow Mills; Scott Bybee of Bowling Green, Reaghan Case of Columbia, and Sarah Bybee of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Avery, Madeline and Katelyn Coombs of Cheney, Wash., and Bentley Green of Moscow Mills; one brother, Robert Sachs and wife, Dorothy of Bowling Green; two sisters, Mary Grundmeier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Pat Sachs of Bowling Green; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Peggy Sachs; and a brother, Bill Sachs. Betty was a stay-at-home mom until 1972 when she began working at St. Clement School as kitchen manager for 20 years. While at the school she became known for her homemade rolls. She started work at the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green as a cook II and promoted to cook III. She retired from NECC at the age of 75 after 14 years of employment. Following retirement Eddie and Betty did lots of traveling including various casinos. Betty also loved to go to resale shops and garage sales - where she always found something she "needed." Memorials may be made to Masses in her name to St. Clement Church, c/o Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
