Delores (Butch) Meyer

Delores Rosalia (Butch) Meyer, 86, entered into God’s eternal rest on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Visitation will be from 8:30am – 10:30am on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. Clement Catholic Church. A rite of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am with Fr. Henry Ussher officiating. Burial will take place at St Clement Cemetery. Butch was born at home October 31, 1938, in Bowling Green, Missouri, to Frank and Catherine (Grote) Niemeyer. She married Arthur (Art) Meyer on November 8, 1958, at St. Clement Catholic Church. To this union six children were born. Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes in Bowling Green is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include children Jeff Meyer (Laura) of Bowling Green, Tammy Bagley (Neil House) of Columbia, Teri Weise (Steve) of Columbia, Scott Meyer (Ellen) of Bowling Green, Curt Meyer (Christine) of Troy, and Bruce Meyer (Stephanie) of Bowling Green; grandchildren Daniel Finke (Stacie), David Finke (Kim), Julie Bowen (Clint), Kelsey Thomas (Michael), Brian Meyer, Bret Weise (Sammy), Halie Wyble (Cole), Kara Meyer (John Fellers), Clayton Meyer, Emily Meyer, Evan Meyer, Carley Meyer, and Catelyn Weise; great grandchildren Thomas Finke, Will Finke, Jacob Bowen, Charlie Bowen, Lauren Finke, Lily Bowen, Sophia Finke, Karrah Thomas, Lydia Gibson, Cash Wyble, Lainey Thomas, Colton Weise, Caroline Wyble, Charlotte Wyble, and Cruz Wyble; siblings Bob Niemeyer (Judy), Fred Niemeyer (Mary Carol), and Ansel Niemeyer as well as brothers in law Mel Meyer and Roland (Duke) Orf. She was preceded in death by husband, Art Meyer, her parents, brother Victor (Vic) Niemeyer, sisters Francis (Sis) Schroeder, and Lorraine (Bee) Meyer; her father and mother-in- law, Ferd and Laura (Grote) Meyer, brothers and sisters in law, Cletus Meyer, Vera and Bill Smith, Clementine (Clem) and Don Porter, Mary Margaret (Mog) Orf, Martha (Mutz) Hoggard and her beloved grandson Cameron Bagley. She graduated from Bowling Green High School. Upon graduation, she went to work at the Garment Factory in Bowling Green. After getting married, she and Art purchased the Meyer family farm, and they started raising a family as they worked tirelessly. To help supplement the family income, Butch sewed as an accomplished seamstress, baked wedding cakes, worked at Hiles Show Store, and drove a school bus for many years. She decided in her 40’s she wanted to shift gears and went to cosmetology school in Quincy and opened Country Curl Salon working out of her home. She continued with this until her retirement. Butch’s involvements included serving as a 4-H leader, St. Clement Parish Council member and Secretary/Treasurer of the St. Clement Cemetery Association. She was active in church and with Cursillo. She loved being a part of her kids and grandkids activities, which were many, including 4-H, FFA and a variety of sports. She loved to travel including taking bus tour trips with her sister, Bee, as well as many great vacations to places like Washington, DC, Graceland, Branson, Tunica and especially Las Vegas. She loved the thrill of the Buffaloes and winning! Being known and loved for her generosity, she was the consummate servant whether it was for her immediate family, extended family, or others in the community. Butch cherished her family as it truly was her God given purpose and she and Art created a faith-filled and busy home. A home filled with love, laughter, and great memories and she thrived in the realm of caring for those she loved. Her joy in life was to love and serve others, and she did that well. As she transitioned in her eternal journey which now is in heaven, we know that she was welcomed with open arms by her Savior, Jesus Christ, and those who have gone before her. She knew the best was yet to come, she was ready, and now all is well with her soul.
