Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 16th, at the Friendship Baptist Church, with Rev. Ron Kunzweiler officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 15th, at the church. He was born October 7th, 1930 in Middle Paxton, PA, the son of George Toot and Margaret Manning Hummel. He married Katherine Wilhoit Lovelace on August 19, 1973 at the Siloam Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2003. Survivors include a step daughter Judy Coates and husband Bill of New Hartford; step son, William Lovelace and wife Joyce of New Hartford; grandchildren Clint Coates and wife Mitzi of Bowling Green, Brian Coates and Michelle Nutt of Vandalia, Lori Smith and husband Scott of New Hartford, Kathy Engel of Warsaw, IL, Leslie Lovell and husband Jeff of New Hartford; 6 great grandchildren Samantha Smith, Jeffery Lovell, Audrey Lovell, Avery Lovell, Adam Engel and David Paris; brother Ralph Hummel; sisters Virginia Klinger and Margaret (Peggy) Refinger; numerous half brothers and sisters; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers Robert and Gene Hummel.He moved from Pennsylvania to St. Louis at an early age and then moved to the Olney and New Hartford area in 1948 where he lived all of his life. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a board member of the Pike County Christian School and the Pike County Gem and Mineral Society. He enjoying playing stringed instruments, singing, playing horse shoes and pinochle. He enjoyed helping his Amish friends. George farmed most all of his life, and also worked for the railroad, a casket company in Wellsville, NECAC in the weatherization program and the Silex school as a bus driver and custodian. Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Coates, Brian Coates, Scott Smith, Robert Feldmann, Ron Kagy and Lavern Perkins. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Paul (Chip) Traynor, John Benton, Monroe Elliott, Charles Wesley Dameron, Glen Nelson, Sammy Lee Harrelson and Rev. Frank Welch. Memorial may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, Siloam Cemetery or the Pike County Christian School. _
