Harold Alan Schmidt

Harold Alan Schmidt, 58, of Frankford, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at his home. A memorial graveside will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Frankford with Pastor Cole Branstetter officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, November 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory. Harold was born April 12, 1965 to Robert and Evelyn (Reading) Schmidt in Hannibal, Missouri. Both parents preceded him in death. Harold is survived by his significant other, Carolyn Wisecarver and son, Gavin; step-father, Jack Reid (Jane); 2 children, Colton and Ceirra; grandchildren, Kash and Lakyn; sister, Martha Ann Gann (John); nephews, Shannon Schmidt (Cristin) and Landon Aubuchon (Bethany); nieces Tatum Schmidt, Sterling Schmidt, and Allison Aubuchon; along with multiple aunts and uncles. Harold started shoeing at 14 and roping at 17. He tried bronc riding and bull riding, but found his passion was team roping and picking up broncs. Harold made the Great Lakes Circuit Finals, URA Finals, MRCA Finals, AFRA Finals, and MRBRA Finals multiple years in the Team Roping. Another passion of his was to train horses. Many of the horses he trained went on to have very extensive careers and won several titles such as Head and Heel Horse of the Year for MRCA, top hand ranch horses, pick up horses and several great riding horses. Harold held Missouri Rodeo Cowboys Association card #82, and USTRCA card #30124. He was a past MRCA Team Roping Director. Harold stayed busy calf roping, heading, heeling, catching/doctoring cattle, providing roping cattle all over the mid-states, ranch rodeoing, putting on team ropings, picking up at pro and non-pro rodeos, and buying and trading horses. Harold was a true jack-of-all-trades. He was a carpenter, welder, horse trainer, mentor to others, as well as an outstanding coach for all things horse related. He enjoyed teaching people how to rope. He loved to hitch up the team and take a Sunday afternoon stroll or put them in a local parade. He also enjoyed camping, trail riding, checking game cameras, throwing horseshoes, playing cards, and travelling. Harold’s favorite was sitting around a good campfire. His newest passion was going on SXS rides with friends and family at the local ride parks as well as sight-seeing at their farms. Harold will be greatly missed by so many. Pallbearers will be Alan Dandridge, Shannon Schmidt, Bruce Smith, Donald Perkins, Scott Adkison, Dale Hogue, TJ Dodd, Lance McCollum, and Jamie Woodhurst. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Bruch, Troy Gray, Ken Mudd, Scott Willis, Mike Kavanaugh, CW Adams, Rod Highfill, Derrick Reading, Jimmie Woodhurst, and Buck Reeves. Memorials may be made to Pike County Home Health and Hospice. An account has also been established at HNB Bank for Harold Schmidt Rodeo Scholarships.
