Larry David Fine

Larry David Fine passed away, surrounded by family, on Saturday August 29, 2026. Larry was born on May 23, 1948, the second son of John and Eva (Dukes) Fine. He grew up in Hopkins, Missouri where he attended and graduated from North Nodaway High School. After high school he played football at Fairbury Junior College in Nebraska before receiving his Bachelor of Education from Northwest Missouri State University, Go Bearcats! Larry was united in marriage to Donna Sue Weber on September 11, 1971. Larry and Sue have two daughters: Heather Dawn Korte and Julie Anne Henry. Larry started his coaching career at Nodaway Holt from there he moved onto Hayti, Mexico, and Shelbina before spending 20 years shaping the minds of the young adults at Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green, Missouri. A few weeks after his retirement from coaching Sue thought it would be best if he found another career. He agreed and became a Bailiff for Pike County for 12 years. Larry was the definition of a people person. He enjoyed teaching and coaching and never really knew how to turn that coach mode off even many years after retirement. He spent 30 years of his life pacing the sidelines as a coach and another 18 years pacing the football fields, softball fields, and tracks as he cheered (coached) his grandchildren. After his second retirement he could be found getting his daily miles in walking around Bowling Green. Larry leaves behind six grandchildren: Joshua Korte, Ryan Korte, Andrea Korte, Gwenyth Gilbert, Michael Henry, and Mason Henry. He is also survived by his wife Donna Sue (Weber)Fine, daughters Heather (Doug) Korte of St. Clement, and Julie (Mike) Henry of Silex. Brother Ronnie (Kay) Fine of Indianola, IA, Brother-in-law Gary (Bonnie) Weber of Savannah, Mo. Sister-in-law Beth Fine of King City, MO. Many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents John and Eva Fine of Hopkins, MO. His in-laws Donald and Doris Weber of Pickering, MO. His brother Steven Fine of Independence, MO. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday September 1, 2026, with the funeral service immediately following at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory, in Bowling Green, MO. The family has requested that you wear your favorite Bowling Green Bobcats or Northwest Bearcats’ attire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Clement Cares Fund or Pike County Home Hospice.
