Leo Garnett Kerns

Leo Garnett Kerns, 74, of Bowling Green, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bowling Green with Rev. Richard Epperson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be Thursday, April 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Leo was born August 20, 1951, in Cyrene, Missouri to Leslie and Garnett (Lovell) Kerns. He was united in marriage to Marsha Buchanan on May 27, 2000. She survives. Also surviving are children Kim (Keith) Dawson, Shawn (Tori) Kerns, Gary (Brett) Hamilton Jr., Stephenie Hamilton Stone, and Brian (Rachel) Wright; grandchildren: Daylan Brown, Cody Brown, Alaina Brown, Paige Willis, Olivia Dawson, Natalee Hollingsworth, Breanna Schlueter, Brayden Wright, Jacen Wright, Elijah Wright, and Coy Hamilton; great-grandchildren: Emery Brown, Paisley Brown, Liam Brown, Remi Brown, Berkley Brown, Copelynn Brown, Harper Willis, Stella Willis, and Roman Hollingsworth; best friend and nephew, Ed Kerns; and sister, Virginia (Faye) Inlow. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leslie (Buddy) Kerns, Glenda Hanson, and William (Bill) Kerns; and daughter, Melinda Brown. Leo was a 1969 graduate of Bowling Green High School. After graduation he attended Linn Tech where he graduated in 1971 with an associate degree in design drafting. He worked at Bowling Green Redi Mix and operated Kerns Construction for over 50 years. Leo loved building things and woodworking. He was always tinkering around the house. He was there to lend a helping hand whenever anyone asked. He was the best concrete finisher in Pike County. He loved get-togethers with family and friends. If the music was playing, he was dancing with a Busch Light in his hand. Leo had the best sense of humor and always had a smile on his face. Everyone said he was the nicest, most good-hearted man. When he loved it was with his whole heart. Pallbearers will be Darin Inlow, Kevin Inlow, Eric Benn, Bobby Kerns, Eddie Grote, and Terry Harrison. Donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
