Funeral services were held Monday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Clement Catholic Church, with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating. Visitation was held Sunday, June 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home, in Bowling Green. Lois was cremated, following services per her wishes. Mrs. Korte was born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Hannibal, MO on March 4, 1949 to J.W. and Martha Lee Liter Cragen of rural Frankford, MO. She married Edmund G. Korte at St. Clement Catholic Church on November 27, 1971. Lois was raised in the Baptist faith and a member of Adiel Baptist Church until she converted to Catholicism at marriage. To this union were born three sons, Douglas, Jeffrey and Shannon.Survivors include her husband Ed; sons, Douglas, wife Heather and children, Joshua, Ryan and Andrea of Bowling Green; Jeffrey of Pittsburgh, PA; and Shannon, wife Amanda and son Jackson of Quincy, IL. Also surviving are her brothers Jerry Cragen, wife Kay, Dale Cragen, wife Donna, and Steve Cragen, and fiancé Donna Wetzel. She was preceded in death by her parents. Lois graduated from the eighth grade at Frankford Elementary and then from Bowling Green High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kirksville State Teacher’s College (Truman State University). She began her professional career as a fourth grade classroom teacher at Frankford Elementary where she was affectionately known as Ms. Lois. She and Ed were married during her first year of teaching. Lois spent many years after that working at Ruth Jensen Village and establishing and implementing programs for RJV developmentally disabled clients which she truly loved. She also devoted many years to teaching adults basic education. She assisted many people in earning their GED Certification and providing support and encouragement to her students. She enjoyed spending time in her yard tending to her flowers as well as attending auctions and yard sales. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.Pallbearers were Scott Cragen, Darin Cragen, Adam Kaiser, Bryan James, Greg Gollaher and Grant Gollaher.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
