Mamie Lorene Scott

Mamie L. Scott, age 84, of Bowling Green, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. M. Faye Vaughn and Rev. Mary Garrett officiating. Burial will be in the Green lawn Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of services on Saturday. Mamie was born in Curryville, April 11, 1932, the daughter of Ivon and Lizzie Holman McPike. She married Charles Edward Scott December 25, 1959. He preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter Patricia Ervin (Richard) of Vandalia; sons Howard Leroy McPike (Sheron) of Quincy, IL, Joe Lee McPike of Wentzville and Lynn Edward Scott of Bowling Green; brother Carl McPike (Bessie); grandchildren Syliva Linear Harris, Chad Hill, Regina McQuay, Melissa McQuay Sharp; great-grandchildren Spencer Ervin, Katricia Evans, Nathanial McPike, Britnay McPike, Cory Bush, Joseph Overton, Latasha DePriest, Megan Scott; great great-grandchildren Juston Sharp, Jasmine Sharp; great great great-grandchildren Kiriana Hill, Chad Hill Jr., Destiny Evans, Logan Evans, Devon Harmon, Skylar Overton, and Jasmine Overton; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Ada Elizabeth Linear Hill and Jason Lamont Scott; brothers James McPike, Leroy “Hots” McPike and Norman McPike who died in infancy; sisters Clara Mae Mitchell, Hattie McPike Mitchell, Nelly McPike Turner and infant sister Cleola McPike. Mamie grew up in Curryville, attended Curryville School and later attended Lincoln School in Louisiana. On February 6, 1972, she became a member of White Rose Baptist Church in Bowling Green where she was very active in her choice to serve the Lord. Mamie loved to cook, fish and have long conversations under the shade trees with an abundance of friends and relatives. Mamie knew no strangers. She enjoyed the company of everyone, and she loved to play cards. Mamie will be dearly missed. She touched many lives. Serving as pallbearers will be Kobe McPike, Tyrone McPike, Donnie Hendricks, Paul Redman, Robbie Scott and Eric Benn. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Earl McPike, Jody Antone, Matt Skillman and Micha Johnston. Memorials may be made to the White Rose Baptist Church.
