Mary Sue "Fussie" Murray

Mary Sue “Fussie” Murray, age 97 of Bowling Green, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green with Lay Pastor Chris Gamm officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green. Mary was born in Frankford, September 21, 1917, the daughter of E. A. “Cricket” and Francis Thompson Tucker. She married Carl Murray on March 16, 1943. He preceded her in death January 27, 1993. Survivors include son Ed Murray (Ruthie) of Bowling Green; daughter Dixie Bell (Greg) of Collierville, TN; 4 grandchildren Courtney Niemeyer (Matthew), Brandon Bell (Layla), Chad Murray (Jessica) and Derek Bell; 6 great grandchildren Olivia, Owen and Oliver Niemeyer and Max, Madison and Eden Murray; nephew Dick Jones, nieces Donna Sheets and Vicki Back; sister-in-law Mildred (Fred) Clark of Silver City, NM; nephew Rodger (Mary Lou) Clark of Deming, NM. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Dan Tucker; sister Lillie Lou Jones and nephew Ricky Clark. Mary grew up in Frankford and lived most of her life in Bowling Green. She worked at the State Capital in Jefferson City for the Governor. She later became a stay at home wife and mother, taking care of her home and her family. She belonged to the Minerva club, as well as D.A.R. and bridge club. She enjoyed needle point, knitting, traveling, and of course dancing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Bell, Chad Murray, Derek Bell, Matthew Niemeyer, Dick Jones, Donna Sheets and Vicki Back. Honorary pallbearers will be Courtney Niemeyer, Layla Bell, Jessica Murray, Olivia Niemeyer, Owen Niemeyer, Oliver Niemeyer, Max Murray, Madison Murray and Eden Murray. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Pike County Home Health and Hospice or Donors’ Choice.
