Penny Darlene Fry

Penny Darlene Fry, 64, of Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. She was born on September 21, 1961, in St Charles Missouri to Robert and Shirley Byington, who preceded her in death. Penny was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her six children: Sandra Morrison, Shane Fry, Shannon Fry, Susan Blair, DeWayne Clark, and Dawn Robertson. She also leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren: Nicholas, Zackery, Steven, Anthony, Isabella, Johnathon, Cadessa, Lucian, Aspen, Easton, Charlie, Isaiah, Atticus, Damien, Krusoe, and one precious grandchild expected in September 2026. She is also survived by her siblings Patty, Gayle, Chris, and Lawrence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Marshall “Butch” Byington and David Byington. Penny spent much of her life in Missouri, where she dedicated herself to caring for her family. She found great joy in babysitting her grandchildren and being a constant, loving presence in their lives. She had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Gus. She also enjoyed researching her family tree, taking pride in learning about her roots and preserving her family’s history. Penny will be remembered for her selfless heart and her willingness to help others, even when she had little herself. For many years she was known affectionately as the “Mother of Brookstone,” a reflection of the care, strength, and compassion she showed to those around her. Above all, Penny was a dedicated and hardworking mother who did everything in her power to provide for her children. Though life was not always easy, she made sure her family always had a roof over their heads, a bed to sleep in, and food on the table. Her strength, resilience, and unconditional love will never be forgotten. Penny’s legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply loved and greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating Penny’s life on Saturday, May 9th starting at 12:00 PM at the Bowling Green Public Library & Community Center.
