Simon Herman Orf

Simon Herman Orf, 82, of Bowling Green, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Bowling Green, with Fr. Walter Kispotta and Deacon Wayne Korte officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, August 15th, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Cremation rites will be handled by Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory of Bowling Green. Simon was born on January 10, 1944, on the family farm in Bowling Green to Raymond and Rose (Walters) Orf. He was united in marriage on September 3, 1966, to Diane Faye Grote at St. Clement Catholic Church. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. Diane survives. Also surviving are Simon’s sons, Larry (Robyn) Orf of Middletown and Brad (Kayce) Orf of Middletown; grandchildren: Cody (Hannah) McEntee, Dane Dunn, Bryson Splain, Khilyn Splain, Brinley Orf, and Wesley Orf; great-grandson, Morgan McEntee; brother, Roland Orf; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Preceding Simon in death are his parents; brothers: Truman Orf, Ezra Orf, William Orf, James Orf, and Raymond Orf who passed at birth; sisters, Geneva Knock, Roseanne Niemeyer, and Thelma Koester. Simon spent his entire life residing and working on the family farm. He attended St. Clement Catholic School through the 8th grade, at which time he went to work full-time on the farm. He was also employed at Orf Construction for 42 years, retiring in 2005. Simon started Simon Orf and Sons backhoe business. He was a hard worker and was still working and farming up to the time of his death. Simon was a kind soul who always had a smile on his face. He was the kind of man that would do anything for someone in need. He was a good, loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took great pride in his family. In his free time, Simon enjoyed camping and hunting. He and Diane had a group of friends and family they liked to travel to different campgrounds with. They liked to frequent Injun Joe’s Campground and Ray Behran’s Campground, but the State Fair was always Simon’s favorite. Serving as pallbearers will be Dane Dunn, Adam Orf, Brandon Henderson, Marty Orf, Les Orf, and George Knock. Memorials may be made to Pike County Home Health and Hospice or the St. Clement Cares Fund.
